Sunny here.
The blog has become book promotion. However, I spotted this tidbit and thought I'd share.
Seems Penguin has decided to start doing self-publishing. This used to be called "Vanity Press" and a lable that small, or indie presses, have fought against for years. If you want to have the name of a quality outfit like Penguin on your book cover, it will only cost you between $99 and $594.
Is this what it's come to? Really? I mean, when it's possible to download your books to Kindle for no cost, how is Penguin able to justify this ploy?
The more I read, the prouder I feel about what we're accomplishing over at Oak Tree.

This was a good post, Sunny. I thin our OTP Blog should be whatever it can be: inform readers (promotion), inform authors, any good news, etc.
Marilly
Of course I meant think not thin. And didn't even spell my name right, I am Marilyn. It's 7:14 a.m. here and I haven't had my Chai latte yet. Better do that before I screw anything else up!
Good Post Sunny. I remember Harlequin doing a similar thing about five years ago and they were quickly blasted. You get what you pay for...maybe!

W.S. Gager on Writing
Penguin is following in the footsteps of Nero - fiddling while Rome burned. The entire traditional publishing industry is collapsing under their noses, and instead of meaningful reform, all Penguin can come up with is shameless graft. At least Nero provided background music.
One year ago, Sunny read my query letter for American Caliphate and wrote "this sounds like a best seller. Have you pitched to the Big Guys?"
I told her that I hadn't and had no interest in doing so. I kenw then where this industry was headed, and I stand by my call. We're nearing lights out for the big guys, and I want to be on the winning team.

Amazing! Thanks for this post.
Nice post and it would be great for everyone, Thanks a lot for spreading this information here.
Where are these last two posts coming from? Someone learning English? Learning how to write? I'm seeing them everywhere.
Sunny,
I've read several articles online about Penguin's new self-publishing and nothing I've read has been good. I don't blame you for being proud of what Oak Tree Press has accomplished. I've read several novels published by OTP and they're first rate!
Thanks for providing such a great information here. Very interesting.
What may be the topic, but it requires to be interesting and helpful in anyway to the readers. You have made the same here in this good post and i really loved the move.
Thanks :)
